Re: Screen Accurate Large Scale PPA
After the antenna, it'll be filling in the gap under the wings/ears. Then mounting the electronics and wiring in the lights.

Re: Screen Accurate Large Scale PPA
For 2025, do you plan the DVD rewatch or the hi-def upscaled version? Thank you for the kind words. Its a slow process simply because of other commitments to my time, but it's on my desk so always there, waiting for the next phase. Trying to find the right sized heat-shrink for the antenna now so ...

Re: Screen Accurate Large Scale PPA
..and we're back. Working on the ears/wings and antenna now. Using simple aluminum flashing, I was able to create a simple hinge to hold the wings in place. But they're also able to be raised if necessary. The aluminum being molded to the inside curve of the dome also keeps it nice and rigid ...

Re: Screen Accurate Large Scale PPA
The arms slide into the holes in the middle ring quite nicely and the shell is a good thickness. Not indestructible, but plenty strong enough to keep his arms in place. I'll have some close up images towards the end to give you an idea of what holds this all together. But the fit is super snug so I ...

Re: Screen Accurate Large Scale PPA
Thank you. With the depth of the hole and the curved dome, it's a royal pain in the bum to get it right. Felt like a precision carpenter trying to sand it down at the right angle, in the right spot, without taking off too much. As you can see in the first photo with the piece in close up, I was way ...

Re: Screen Accurate Large Scale PPA
..it's been a while but life takes priority whether you like it or not I'm afraid. One sheet of red acrylic, one belt sander, one heat gun, one 95+ degree garage, and one Saturday afternoon...we try to form the eye piece to fit. 20240629_180034.jpg Cut the acrylic down to size, heat with the heat ...

Re: Screen Accurate Large Scale PPA
With the help of fans and their work that's been posted here...oh yeah we're coming up with all sorts. I've an old JVC camcorder that's no longer working. I'm going to cannibalize the thing and use what I can from the mechanism to build this backdrop out. I think we can all agree that accuracy at ...

Re: Forum Downtime
Glad they allowed for legacy pricing and functionality to remain (from the sounds of it). Have you thought are about archiving content to somewhere like Google Drive (15GB free) for anything older than x years on the forums? Not sure of the infrastructure and if off-loading larger files there and ...

Re: Screen Accurate Large Scale PPA
Next hurdle I'm going to have to figure out is the eye piece. Thanks (once again) to the HD upscale, we can see this is clearly something with a lot of depth and detail. PPA Eye Piece.png I can only assume this is a kit bash (parts of different model kits they'd aready used, thrown together to build ...
