Hey all. It was a busy year for me last year with my 50th, so I'm catching up on a lot of long overdue projects and finally making up my Moderoid Dai-X was one of them. I even went to the length of rigging up a streaming set up in my study that used my "real" camera for the first time. So about an hour in to my trying to get the hang of it, this guy appears in the chat and announces it's the Imperial Master. Now obviously I'm immediately suspicious, but his username is deeply Japanese looking. I kind of keep going, acknowledging that yes, the Imperial Master was played by Toru Kubo (I was impressed with myself, I got his name out of my head). The account then introduces itself as - him. Mind boggled. Somehow I just knew, his "voice" was familiar and it was clear he was only translating what was written in chat, not understanding what I was saying. He's left a nice comment on the stream too bless him - he was at the 2022 exhibition and mentioned in stream that the Dai-X that was there was original. So what was just supposed to be a build stream turned into a bit of a reminiscence. It's been a funny old week! https://youtube.com/live/O5gcPMNn2XY That stream video will be followed by another on Monday about the model itself, which I just saw Shane's pictures of too. Such an incredibly clever build, it's not normally something I would have picked up, but obviously, reasons!

Hi Andy,
This sounds great.
I'll give this a view tonight for certain.

I don't have a lot of time for model building these days and it's been a long time since I built my last gunpla.
After Gundam SEED kind of died off, I lost a bit of interest.

I think the moderoid model will continue to be around for quite a while, and I'll build one at some point.
You see some incredible builds of it on twitter from Japan, which make things is a bit disheartening when it comes to building one's own.

Fatality!

But this was a good video. :D

This image popped up on nitter lately and it shows that it looks very nice - even without any paint or panel lines being marked out on it etc.

I think, if I ever get around to building one, I'd want to spray paint it up, or at the very least, do something to darken the panel lines on it.

I like your avatar on here. :D
I hope that people widely and deeply appreciate that I put in an extension to phpBB that allows it to resize the avatar image, if it's different to the expected dimensions.
It's amazing that phpBB still doesn't do that as a built-in functionality.

Maybe ask Toru if he has any stuff left over from the show: any photos of the cast, or production, or anything that he just took with him when they wrapped the production up.
He might have something that we can put on the site.
