News I'm pretty sure I've not seen this one before.
Anyway, it's now headed to the FROM JAPAN warehouse.
Once it gets to me, I'll scan it and you can have a better look at the cover illustration.
Update: This item has arrived. I'll scan the cover to get a better image of the illustration. About the most vexing feature removal for me in Windows 11 is the ability to put the taskbar down the side, especially, given that the new taskbar is enormous and takes up a great deal of vertical space.
Hacking the Windows registry to get the taskbar down the side, as commonly suggested, doesn't seem to work, but there are alternatives.
I put on ExplorerPatcher and it seems to work for me.
In fact, it makes the whole thing easier to use, since the "(lack of) Control Centre" in Windows 11 makes some things harder to do, and ExplorerPatcher gives you the Windows 10 taskbar behaviour and appearance back.
You can also make the taskbar icons and buttons smaller again, a la Windows 10, which is helpful for multi-tasking.
Another avenue might be to use StarDock Start11, which looks very impressive, but ExplorerPatcher has been sufficient for me so far.
Windows 11 still feels like a beta product and Microsoft has given me no wins since Windows 10 Mobile, which was nearly 10 years ago. I was using nitter as a way around having an account for twitter and connecting to their servers directly.
Sadly, the 'guest accounts' on twitter, which were used by now-unsupported versions of the android twitter app, and facilitated content delivery prior to client login, have been removed.
Without that, nitter has no way to work, and you now have no other way to browse content on twitter without logging into an account, so I created a little burner one to search after Star Fleet / X Bomber content ...
I turned up the below article, which I don't think I spotted in the past, about the Moderoid Dai-X model and how to get the most out of it when building it:
"X Bomber" Big Dai-X becomes MODEROID! Check out this powerful example based on restored props!
It has some good photographs. Things are quiet on the Star Fleet front.
I put together my (very) little model of a Thunderbolt from possibly the least-well-known Gerry Anderson show: Firestorm, that's been sitting on my shelf for absolutely ages.
It's such a nice design, it's a pity there isn't a bigger one available anywhere. Server move seems to have gone well,
I noticed that the cron job for search indexing wasn't pointing to the right place to find the bash script after some changes that I made the other month.
That's fixed now. I spotted this nice illustration over nitter...
I like the 'anime-isation' of the characters and appearance of the Dai-X, and it was interesting to see the stages that the artist went through in creating the image. ... but here's a cool thing, by Bernard Chan, for any Macross enjoyers:
ArtStation - YF-35 KUSANAGI
Gab's AI image generator had a big upgrade over Christmas.
I asked it to come up with an image of the character: Rain from X-Bomber the Game.
I've tried a good few AI engines to try and get a good representation of what I had in mind, without it taking me days to illustrate it myself (I am not good at character drawing), but this has done the best job so far. Our new forum user: Spoutnik has delivered an ingenious upgrade to dym2005's 720p AI Star Fleet upscale...
This version adds the Japanese audio from the US standard definition blu-rays, as well as the subtitles, for use with it, making it even more useful.
Please drop in on the forum thread to say hello.
