I bought a DVD set of what I thought was Star Fleet on ebay. I'm not sure it's authectic anymore. At this link you can see the auction or try to get a copy. sPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting" target="_blank">http://cgi.ebay.com/Star-Fl....hosting

bootleg DVDs
I just thought I'd post here to clarify something. None of the English DVDs now out there are "authentic" - they're all copies of the US tapes in some way shape or form. The ones being sold in this auction are from a US site that sells various other series that it believes are "public domain" in the US, and the DVDs are Region 1 I believe, so may not play on UK machines. Plus, we have no concept of "public domain" so the copies would technically breach copyright over here. I have been in contact with the site that makes these versions, and they are well intentioned but I'm not sure their public domain argument, interesting as it was, actually holds up. I've not actually seen their versions so I can't comment on quality as compared to any of the other bootlegs out there...

Andy,You are right to question their use of the term "Public Domain" because they are completely wrong. Here's a handy table describing how it works in the USA:http://www.copyright.cornell.edu/traini ... ain.htmThe US video releases of Star Fleet are labeled as Copyright 1988 Classic Family Entertainment. So, they falls under this category of protection:Quote 70 years after the death of author, or if work of corporate authorship, the shorter of 95 years from publication, or 120 years from creationI assume that Star Fleet would be the work of a "corporate authorship;" so, these videos will be protected by US copyright law until some time in the year 2083.Of course, that means that anyone that is copying and distributing the US videos is breaking the law, not just these DVD-makers, but... really... who cares?

Well no-one - the people who made the series seem to have abandoned it and want to forget about it - it seems to me.The DVD copies on Ebay are all copied from the Rare TV discs - I'm told by the author... and the quality is very good. Far better than from Starfleet Direct. They came in very useful as resource material for my game.
