Anyone recommed good A/V editing software?

Post by simoncoverdale »

Morning All,Those who have took VCD's from me will be aware that they are basically one solid block taken from the video.Since then, I've been playing with Nero and found that a Title screen similar to DVD can be created, complete with smashing little Thumbnails of different parts of the show, again similar to DVD.To this end, I've decided to tidy up the file and split them into episodes and scenes. I believe Nero or VCD restricts you to 9 'breaks', hence I will either split each episode into 3 or just half them and allow a jump to the opening and closing sequence, something like that!Anyhow, I could do with some good a/v software to edit, ensure a/v sync, reduce/increase colour, that sort of thing. If anyone has any experience of this, please reply here or directly to simon.coverdale@simoncoverdale.comTa,SCsfdthdPS. A reasonable dictionary wouldn't go amiss either! Spot the not-so-deliberate spelling mistake!(Edited by simoncoverdale at 11:28 am on Feb. 5, 2002)

I've just been reading around on this subject as I'm going to be getting a new PC quite imminently now and would like to capture some clips from various tapes for addition to the site. Any advice on capture cards would be welcome, although I'm actually thinking of going down the route of getting an external analogue to DV converter and using a Firewire port as the input - avoiding the need for a capture card. But I digress. I hear that Pinnacle Studio 7 is a very good entry-level piece of software for doing pretty much anything going, VCD creationwise. The following may be more than you need because it includes the card as well as the software, but have a read anyway:Studio DVFor more general info I've found this very readable site:http://www.simplydv.co.uk/What are your system specs like now Simon? I remember you mentioning you'd bought an extra hard drive a while back...
