Possible Live action Movie Idea

I've been working on some effects in Adode AE and vision lab for a Power Ranger fan film (a friend has written)And it got me thinking. would it be possible to do Star Fleet the live action feature film?I beleave it would be with a little backing.I'm getting quite good at Chroma Key editing and adding effects in visionlab. So my question to you is would it be worth making a short half an hour film?either A: do a Haim saban and just and paste the space fights and mecha fights. just a quick follow up on this idea.if the community was to put together a fan movie who of us would play who?or would we make up a new story?If anyone would be intrested in this PM me and I'll see if i can whip up a small promo
