Why not? The ships had hyperspace engines.How can you have a science fiction adventure when you troll around your own back yard?I'm pretty sure that exact set was used in a number of Japanese live action series from around that time.Is amazing what you can do with dry ice or a smoke machine or whatever they used.I just wish the Alliance Base had been a bit more imaginitive with lots of buildings and hangars and support structures, not just a bunch of rocks and turrets. Although, I did spot a radar installation last time I watched.
