Star Fleet: The Revenge of Makara

Post by Vanessa »

Hi Shane,Already downloaded your story file from the archive.I'm on the case, will upload a .doc file and a.pdf file for you ASAP!Love the Prologue & Epilogue!I reckon that you refer to Halley's father (Captain Corliss), Who was told the Proverb by The Great Skull?I really must write the story where these two meet I'm not so hot on literature tho', so I don't know who the 16th century poet was... And how The Great Skull got to meet him? Well I guess that's a tale for another time... I guess that the other spirit that Halley senses ebbing away is that of Makara's?Anyway, great stuff!Well done!

That's really kind of you Vanessa, cheers!I'm not that much of a literature buff, but I wanted a quote on revenge and found one from a 16th century French poet called François de Malherbe. I then thought it would be cool if that quote was passed onto The Great Skull to Corliss and then finally to Halley for the purposes of the prologue. And the flicker of light was indeed Makara, so top marks there! Yeah, there seems to be a multitude of short story possibilities with the Skull family alone. Looking forward to reading the meeting between The Great Skull and Captain Corliss somewhere down the line.

No worries.I've sent the .doc file and the .pdf file over to you.I hope they work, please let me know if you have any problems with them. If you are happy with the .pdf file then I can upload it to the X-Archive, or you can do that yourself if you prefer.I'm not sure if you have the ability to view .pdf files on your PC?

Well, it was a long time coming, but as I had a bit of free time today I thought I'd render an image or two of Miss Steel:http://www.xbomber.co.uk/xarchiv....lsi ... ...lsize=1

That's how I imagined the character, pretty well. She looks a bit like the professor from the animated series of Dan Dare back in ... 2004?I kind of imagined her looking a bit like Emma Frost from X-Men in uniform. Those are very good renders! What did you do them in?

I used Poser 8 to create the image which, of course, includes Brad's great logo reproductions. As you can see, I was also able to make a custom X-Squadron badge (which was described in TROM), by combining an existing pilot eagle badge with the X-Bomber logo with just a little bit of graphical tweaking.I don't use Poser very much these days as my current computer just isn't up to it. It's a shame as I'd still really love to be able to make all of the characters from Star Fleet into 3D models. Actually, the figure side of it wouldn't be a problem, it's just a case of making all the clothing and weapons. Alas, although I'm quite good at animation and the setting up and lighting of scenes, the actual 3D Modeling aspect isn't my strong point.

I Like the Emma picI always imagined her as sort of short brown hair 18 years old and cute.

Your renders are very well done there Shane!Emma Steele is quite the archetypal Blonde Bombshell heroine isn't she?The logo work is just great as well.3D animated models of the Star Fleet characters would be really cool. And as I said before, it's not a huge step from there to actual physical models...
