What's the name of the film about a young boy who had a robot-friend with a TV screen built into its tum? The robot could show any screen image, to display an emotion: for example, when he felt like applauding something, he showed a black-and-white clip of my ex-heart-throb Mickey Rooney, clapping.

That's a good question. I don't know that one.
I figure this must have been a live-action film. When would it have been made, roughly?

EDIT: In researching this matter, I can across this page, strangely enough:
http://www.denofgeek.com/movies/robot-j ... -robot-jox
I've never seen this film but I'm darn-well going to based on what I read.
Anyway, the comments start talking about Star Fleet, which is pure coincidence seeing as I google-imaged "robot movies".
Take a look at the third comment!

BTW, this movie isn't Short circuit that we're talking about, is it?
That had a laser on its shoulder but I dunno about a display.
I didn't realise when I watched it when I was little that Johnny5 is disturbingly similar, shape-wise, to the hunterkiller tank in Terminator.
