3D X-bomber art

Post by felice »

I think even the most extremely basic interior structure (untextured planes for floor, ceiling, and/or walls) could make a big difference, if the windows were blurry so the lack of detail wasn't apparent, only the existence of internal spaces. Using blurry transparent material might slow rendering times, but the modelling work should be relatively minimal.

You're not wrong. it would improve things a great deal. I'll go back and add some internals after I finish work on the Alliance Cruiser.I have also completed work on a new ship, the EDF Transporter. Just a little artistic licence on this mainly the bridge windows which I split into two separate panes rather then the one wide window. The full size version 7000x2000 pixels can of course be seen on my deviantART account - Escort Duty

(Crash Override @ Mar. 21 2013,19:13)QUOTEGood to see you again, Brad.Encyclopedia is here:http://www.xbomber.co.uk/files/media/JN ... mber.pdfIt has some very interesting stuff. Infact, I wondered if anyone could translate p55 of that to see whether it says anything about the extra LegTrax weapon that it shows you.[Highly paraphrased...]LegstarLength - 27.5 metresHeight - 7.5 metresWidth -  19 metres[Picture caption]: Legstar landing by putting down caterpillar tracks.[Insert]: Bigman Lee sits vertically in this small fighter. Legstar plays an offensive role on the ground as a tank by putting down caterpillar tracks and landing.[Happosai]

Thanks for that - that describes nicely what we see it do in the show. It's a shame that we don't see it enter tank mode more than once.I think they had in mind to do a lot more with the series; show off the capabilities of all the vehicles and introduce a wider range of enemy craft in a second series, which the studio fire prevented.

Came across this, which is a nice redesign of some of the ships:http://colourbrand.deviantart.com/art/X ... -434582399

Yes, that's quite good, and all the ships seem to match in terms of design and colourings.

What I particularly like is that it's not a 3D model. It's an actual, human painting. These 3D models are very impressive but they're not very artistic.
