Re: Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

I finally got the site backed up. It was quite a pantomime. The cPanel would create a backup of the home directory and settings and so on and it would let you download a 16GB tar.gz. When you opened the file, the actual size of the contents were about 100MB with just configuration data. The remainde...

Re: Going After Firestorm

I told myself that I would give it until New Year and see if Firestorm Vol 4 appeared on eBay. Sadly, it never did, so I ordered over Amazon marketplace, which was not my first choice.

I'll let you know when it gets here and I can finish my little project off.

Re: Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

On the subject of keeping things safe, it's been quite a while since I took a local copy of the website. The archive is 16GB. It's not as big as I figured it might be but it wants 9 hours to download. While I was in the cpanel, generating the backup file, I took a look at the various hosting plans a...

Re: Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Hi Andy, It's great to hear from you. I guess it was foreseeable that putting the forum on this server might lead to access issues from workplaces; more-so than if it had stayed put. Even so, it never really crossed my mind. It sounds very much as though you've had a very similar year to a lot peopl...

Re: RIP Mike Noble

That's real kind of you. It's always gonna be Andy's forum but it was certainly a worthwhile effort to convert the forum and bring it back when the old forum software couldn't carry us any further. It doesn't seem like nearly 4 years ago that we did that. Anyway, the forum and X-Bomber game site wil...

Re: RIP Mike Noble

That was the answer I was expecting.
In Look-In, you could see that the images were all shaded; either with pen or pencil.

Yet in the DVD booklet, the colouration is more like they were inked or painted over afterwards.
I do plan on scanning that in so that we have both versions on the website.

Re: RIP Mike Noble

Good to see you! Wish it had been better news, Those Star Fleet comic strips from Look-In really looked to have been done by someone that watched a good deal of the show and got what it was about. One thing I don't get about those comics is how they did a colourized version in the booklet that came ...

Re: Going After Firestorm

Screenshots from vols 3, 7 and 9 are uploaded, as well as scans of the covers and linings.
I see that volume 4 is available thru amazon Japan.
I'm going to give it a few weeks and see if I get get vol 4 the same way that I got the others.

Lots of great finds today ...

And to think, I was feeling a little despondent the other day after not finding any new X Bomber things for a while ... - An interesting bit of X Bomber history: http://www.xbomber.co.uk/?dir=Star%20Fleet/More/Japanese%20TV%20Listings%20and%20Subtitle%20Screenshots - Some nice modelwork (WIP) http:/...
