« Scans / Showa Books

Showa produced a number of really beautifully-illustrated colouring and notebooks in 1980, which are occasionally available over Rinkya and even eBay for anyone interested in picking them up.

Colouring books
There are apparently two of these:
 - "CBA": There is the version which I have, with the Dai-X leaping with the Alliance battlecruiser in the background. It contains 32 pages; roughly A4.
Some of the illustrations span a double-page.

 - "CBB": There is also the version featured below, some scans of which were uploaded to Twitter Japan by user RbaronMbaron.
The cover features X-Bomber emptying its guns into the Alliance battlecruiser. This illustration was apparently done by Toshio Okazaki.
This book has a green X-Bomber logo on the cover, rather than red and the book contains different illustrations.

I like the inside illustrations as well as the fantastic covers since they put a different and attractive spin on the characters from the show.
Hopefully, they should come in useful for younger children and they might trigger some inspiration among adults as well.

Notebook
A smaller notebook was released.
 - Front cover: X-Bomber and Dai-X with a dark green background
 - Back cover: Dai-X with a blue background
It contains plain paper (roughly A5) with a small illustration of Legtrax on the bottom of each page.
On the back two pages, it features the colouring images from pages 1 and 3 of the "A" colouring book.

I managed to find colouring book A and the notebook on eBay in Japan.
The outermost pages were difficult to scan because they had yellowed and darkened to quite an extent whereas the pages closer to the middle were much more pristine.
For the covers, I uploaded these in their original colours from the scanner as well as adjusted (auto) versions from Photoshop.

I'm trying to get a hold of the other colouring book so I can do a full series of scans.
